Frequently Asked Questions

How do I arrange to see the  centre ?

Contact Us on 03 9306 8366 or email us at info@pearlstreetchildcare.com.au to schedule a tour of the  centre  and to meet the educators in your child’s room. During the tour, we will discuss the enrolment and orientation procedure and any questions you may have.

Can I put my child on the waitlist if they are not born yet?

And how long should I expect to wait for a place for my child?

Yes, you can join our waiting list as soon as you know you are expecting. At different times of the year, our  centre  can become very busy, so it is best to discuss the expected waiting times with our Centre Manager.

When offered a position at the  centre , how long do I have to accept or decline the offer?

We understand the busy lives of families and so we allow 5 working days for you to accept an enrolment offer.

Is there a minimum number of days required for enrolment?

We have no minimum days but recommend a two day minimum for all children. This is so that your child can become familiar and comfortable whilst at the  centre,  as this will become part of their regular routine. We also find that your child’s developmental experience will be enhanced when they attend the  centre  for two or more days during the week.

Is there an orientation program for new children and families?

Our  centre  has an orientation process that is tailored to suit each child and family, allowing you and your child to become familiar with and comfortable in our  centre . Please speak with our Centre Manager about what your orientation process may involve.

What happens if my child is sick?

If your child wakes up sick in the morning, please keep your child at home to reduce the risk of the illness spreading to other children and educators at the  centre . If your child becomes ill whilst in our care, we will contact you or if your child is very unhappy or unsettled, we will call you. In some cases, your child may need a medical clearance before resuming care. When your child has a high temperature or is vomiting or has diarrhoea they will be required to remain away from the centre until a doctor has given them a medical clearance to return to care.

What  are  the educator to child ratios?

At Pearl Street, we operate with the required ratios of 1 educator to 4 children under the age of 3 and 1 educator to 11 children over the age of 3. We also maintain the correct number of educator qualification requirements.

Do you provide programs that will prepare my child for school?

Yes, our  centre  offers an excellent school readiness program not only preparing your child academically but also socially and emotionally for the challenges of starting at school. Our curriculum covers a number of key learning areas including numeracy and literacy. Our Kindergarten Program is taught by fully qualified Kindergarten Teachers.

What is included in the daily fee?

The daily fee is all-inclusive covering meals, snacks, sunscreen, nappies and bedding.

For babies, we ask families to supply formula or breast milk until your child is eating solids and able to enjoy the  centre  meals, and cows milk.

Your fees pay for:

  • High quality, affordable care from qualified educators
  • Multi-culturally suitable and nutritionally balanced meals
  • Three-Year-Old and Four-Year Old Kindergarten Programs that are   taught by fully qualified Early Childhood Teachers
  • In-Service Learning Sessions

How do I pay my fees?

Fees are required to be paid one week in advance with the first payment being drawn within the first week that your enrolment commenced. Fees are processed weekly on a Thursday via Direct Debit.

Am I eligible for the Child Care Subsidy?

Child Care Subsidy is different for every family and determined by the Government. We encourage you to contact the Family Assistance Office to see what Subsidy entitlement is available to your family.
